Am I eligible for Canada PR from India?

You are eligible to enter Express Entry if you have one year of skilled work experience, an English test at CLB 7 or higher, an assessed degree, 67 points on the selection grid and settlement funds. Being eligible and being invited are different things; the second depends on your Comprehensive Ranking System score against current draws.

Eligible for what, exactly

"Eligible for Canada PR" usually means eligible to enter the Express Entry pool under the Federal Skilled Worker stream. The conditions are fixed and checkable:

  • Work: one continuous year, full-time or equivalent, in the last ten years, in a skilled occupation (TEER 0 to 3). Unpaid internships and part-time study jobs do not count.
  • Language: CLB 7 in listening, reading, writing and speaking. For IELTS General Training that is 6.0 in each band, not an overall 6.0.
  • Education: a completed credential plus an educational credential assessment that says it is equivalent to a Canadian one.
  • The 67-point grid: age, education, language, experience, a valid job offer and adaptability. Most Indian graduates under 40 with CLB 7 and three years of experience clear it.
  • Funds: the amount IRCC publishes for your family size, held in your name and available.

What eligibility does not tell you

Whether you will be invited. A 28-year-old with a master's degree, CLB 9 English and three years of experience is around 470 without a spouse. Whether that is enough depends on the draw type that week. A 38-year-old with the same profile is roughly 60 points lower, because age points fall steeply after 35.

The checks that a form cannot do

Refusals elsewhere, gaps in employment, a degree from an institution the assessment body does not recognise, or work experience your employer will not put in writing. These are what a consultant looks at before you spend money on tests.
